What is the best gaming system for a 13 year old boy?

I want to buy a new system, but I have no clue what to get… I’ve been to many websites and read many articles about which on it the best but, I’d like a little help… I don’t really want a wii because of the Graphics, and because all of my friends who have one say their boring… The problem with 360s are that they break- so I hear… My friends broke with in 1 year… PS3 sounds nice… But it doesn’t have any games that are really my age… I can play games like halo, but my mom really doesn’t want me to play gta… All my friends have 360s, I have a Gamecube, a PS2, a DS, and a Apple Ibook G4… I would like to play computer games, but I can’t afford a 500$ computer… I have 200$ cash, and another 200$ in target gift cards. And please don’t say read a book, because I all ready read allot so…
Thanks every one! I’m still thinking about it but after reading your responses, I’ll probably go with the 360… Thanks!

While the xbox 360 had many problems in the past, the newer models (the 60gb one, or 360 elite i.e. the black one) are pretty reliable from my understanding. Are games the only thing you are interested in, do you have many friends who you could play with in person, or do you require playing games with people online? If your friends have 360s this gives you the opportunity to play games they have without having to go buy your own. You can hook the 360 up to your network and access videos off of your computer. If your family has a NETFLIX account, and you have an XBOX live account, you can watch NETFLIX movies from the instant queue. The only problem with LIVE is it costs 50 bucks for a year, BUT I think it is worth it, you can download demos and play with or against friends online in many games

The 360 is also cheaper than the PS3, and I believe has a larger library of games. If you can get a backwards compatible PS3 for under 400, I would suggest getting that though. IT would allow you to have a blu-ray player, and ability to play files from portable medie (memory sticks, SD cards, usb stick)

Both have games that are suitable for a 13 year old, and remember, you will only get older and have more options for gaming, so just think about the future games that will come out too. Many of the games that are being made come out for both systems now because it is too expensive to license it for a single system.

I have both, and I still play my 360 more right now, I only got the PS3 for littlebigplanet and MGS4, but I am sure there will be many more.

As for the wii, if you don’t want to be a casual gamer then don’t get it. It is fun, and there are a few games that are only for this console that are worth a play, but you shouldn’t get it for your main one.

I hope this wasn’t too long and it helped out.
